Faculty Diversity Resources

COPRA is looking for evidence that program-specific plans are in place and are being implemented to promote faculty diversity with regard to faculty recruitment, supplemental diversity efforts, and providing a positive and supportive atmosphere. Given the time, expense, and resources that go into recruiting new faculty, it is vital for programs to employ retention strategies that contribute to the program’s mission and values, as well as faculty needs. To learn more about what COPRA has to say, view Standard 3.2 (Faculty Diversity) for additional guidance.

Common Concerns

  • Our institution doesn’t have the resources to recruit new and diverse faculty.
  • We have a limited number of professors. How can we be a part of the diversification process without overburdening our faculty and staff?
  • Recruiting and retention efforts are a challenge for our institution because of our geographic location. What can we do to recruit and retain diverse faculty despite this challenge?
  • Our student body is more diverse than our faculty.
